Argostoli, Cephalonia, Greece

Introduction

Argostoli is on the the largest Ionian Island, Cepholonia. Most of city was destroyed in the 1953 earthquake and but the historical areas could never rebuilt, though some still stand.

Argostoli is one of the busiest port in Greece.


Transportation

There are buses, ferries, and seaplane available for you to explore this island.


Sightseeing

You can go to the fishing village of Fiskardo.


The Koutavos Lagoon is beautiful and you can all see Loggerhead Turtles. Here you can also see the wooden bridge built by General Sir Charles James Napier and Colonel Charles Philip de Bosset.

As in all ports you visit there is much history to learn about, you can see the lighthouses, museums, monuments and temples. There's also beautiful beach with beach activities and delicious wines found in Argostoli.
